Interments at The Jacksonville National Cemetery which is located on 526 acres in North Jacksonville Florida began on January 7th, 2009. It is owned by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and is operated by the VA’s National Cemetery Administration (“NCA”). The NCA is responsible during 2024 for the operations of 154 other national cemeteries. The Jacksonville National Cemetery anticipates that it will serve the needs of the northeastern Florida and southeastern Georgia region into the early 22nd Century.

There are eight other NCA cemeteries in Florida: Barrancas (Pensacola), St. Augustine, Florida (Bushnell), South Florida (Lake Worth), Bay Pines (St. Petersburg), Sarasota, Cape Canaveral (Mims), and Tallahassee.
