About The Support Committee
The purposes of this directive “Support Committee” is defined as a formal group of “advisory / support volunteers” serving under the name SCJNC whose bylaws state in that the Committees’ purpose is to facilitate the enhancement, maintenance, expansion and support of the Jacksonville National Cemetery (JNC) in Jacksonville, FL.
A. To assist the JNC Director and staff in establishing programs, ceremonies and events not funded by the National Cemetery Administration (NCA), which serve our veterans and their families.
B. Enlist support from appropriately chartered Veterans Service Organizations/Auxiliaries (e.g, American Legion, DAV, VFW, AMVETS, GVVA, VVVA, Order of the Purple Heart,Ex-POWS, MOAA, Jewish American War Veterans, etc.) and State and Local Government agencies serving the needs of veterans, and appropriate public groups for the enhancement, maintenance expansion and support the JNC.
C. Obtain support of municipal, county, state and federal officials for the management, enhancement, maintenance, expansion and support of the JNC.
D. Improve public awareness of the mission of JNC by assisting in the planning and conduct of major ceremonies or special events by commemorating and honoring those who served or are serving in the U.S. Armed Forces, or those interred at the JNC.
E. Generate public support for the JNC.
The Support Committee at Jacksonville National Cemetery is a group of unpaid volunteers whose purpose is to facilitate the enhancement, maintenance, expansion, and support of the Jacksonville National Cemetery. We work closely with cemetery staff to assist with public events and projects that are beyond the scope of the National Cemetery Administration budget.
